HAYES MOTEL
When the Hayes Motel opened in 1947, Mr. Hayes supervised the construction of the 10-unit property. The motel was considered "ultra modern" at the time, equipped with Beauty-Rest mattresses, radios and showers. Mr. and Mrs. Oles Hayes hired Mamie McCloud and gave her a watch (pictured below) celebrating her 22 years of service. Mrs. Hayes said, "Mrs. McCloud's honest, integrity, and loyalty will never be forgotten. She was never sick or absent, except for vacations."
In the 1970s a second floor was added to the property and has since fallen into disrepair.
Despite its current condition, it is run by a warm and inviting staff. Pictured below, is Lily Ho, the co-owner of the Hayes.
